Valda Hazel

Ms. Hazel holds a degree in Tourism & Leisure Management with a concentration in Destination Marketing, which she acquired from InHolland University of Applied Sciences, The Netherlands. Since returning to the island in 2006, Ms. Hazel has worked for several years at Sonesta Maho Beach Resort in the capacity of Conventions Coordinator and Banquet Manager. During her tenure at Sonesta Maho Resort she was nominated for SHTA Crystal Pineapple Award as Supervisor of the Year within the Hospitality Industry. She is a Certified Customer Service trainer where she facilitated Customer Service courses for employees of various corporations. In 2010, Ms. Hazel started working at University of St. Martin in the position of Executive Assistant to the President, after some years she transferred to her current position as Events Manager. Ms. Hazel is responsible for the rental and use of USM facilities for events & activities.
With her years of experience in operations and employee management, in 2019 Ms. Hazel was contracted as an instructor for the courses: Human Resources Management, Events Planning and Management and Marketing Process and Planning.
Apart from her professional career, Ms. Hazel dedicates her time to community service. She became a Rotarian in 2010 and is currently a member of the Rotary Club of St. Martin Sunrise.
Ms. Hazel held various positions within the Rotary club where she served as Club President twice
