Juliana Hodge-Shipley: A Beacon of Educational Excellence

Mrs. Juliana Hodge-Shipley, the esteemed Education and GLA Division Head at the University of St. Martin (USM), has been honored with the Vocation Excellence Award by the Rotary Club St. Martin Sunrise.
This prestigious accolade is bestowed upon individuals who exceed expectations in their vocational service, demonstrating attributes such as going above and beyond to serve others with a positive and willing spirit.
Juliana is renowned for her unwavering dedication to education, leadership, and administration. Her deep-seated commitment to excellence is evident in her passion for innovative teaching methods, curriculum development, and fostering an inclusive learning environment. She is a dedicated educator whose work has significantly impacted the academic and personal growth of countless students.
Throughout her career, Juliana has actively contributed to various organizations dedicated to the well-being and advancement of children. Her approach to education is characterized by interactive, student-centered learning experiences that promote critical thinking, collaboration, and creativity. Her work has left a lasting mark on the educational landscape.
As the longtime president of the Sint Maarten Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development, Juliana has led her team in organizing impactful teacher conferences across Sint Maarten, Saba, St. Eustatius, and Anguilla. These conferences have provided educators with valuable opportunities to explore innovations in education, including technology integration, experiential learning strategies, and forward-thinking curriculum design.
Beyond her administrative and educational roles, Juliana is actively involved in extracurricular activities such as choir, soccer, dance, volleyball, and art. Her participation in these activities further contributes to student growth and development, showcasing her holistic approach to education.
At USM, Juliana continues to support students in their academic and career pursuits. Her mission to empower learners and equip them with the necessary tools to thrive remains steadfast. Her dedication ensures that students have the support and guidance they need to excel.
The Vocation Excellence Award was presented to Juliana by the club President, Jharna Dialani, in the presence of Rotary Club St. Martin Sunrise members. Assisting with the presentation were the Club Immediate Past President, Valda Hazel and Club President-Elect Cookie Bijlani. Among those witnessing this proud moment were Juliana's colleagues at USM, including the President of the Board of Directors, Mrs. Valerie Giterson-Pantophlet.
