Application to become a Coast Guard Officer open

March 22, 2023

The Coast Guard calls on youngsters between the ages of 18 and 25 who have the ambition to become a Coast Guard officer, to register for the Basic Coast Guard Training, ‘Basis Opleiding Kustwacht’ (BOK).

The BOK is a 1-year training program consisting of practical and theoretical modules, including training to become a ‘Buitengewoon Agent van de Politie’ (BAVPOL). Both men and women can sign up for the Coast Guard training.

The training starts with an introduction period, called the 'SamenSterk' period in which the youngsters are tested both physically and mentally. The aim of the ‘SamenSterk’ period is for the youngster to grow and develop both physically and mentally and get to know the Coast Guard organization. During the training, the aspirants will acquire basic skills in first aid and weapons. Nautical education and modules in basic rescue equipment training, firefighting, Coast Guard legislation and VHF manual are also part of the BOK curriculum.

If you are interested in the training, you can visit the Dutch Caribbean Coast Guard website via .www.kustwacht.org. There you can find more information about the training and follow the link to the application form following the work at the Coast Guard section.

The Coast Guard training will start in August 2023 but prior to the training you can follow a pre-program before selection for the training. The pre-program has been developed to give youngsters the opportunity to be successful during the selection for the training.
The pre-program will consist of Language knowledge & Communication skills (Dutch & English), Ethics & Morality, Physical Conditioning and Personal Development. Register now to become a Coast Guard Officer.
